Learn the fundamental concepts and skills needed to begin using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for the exploration and analysis of spatial data using the open source GIS package QGIS. What is a GIS?Spatial Data Models and FormatsProjections and Coordinate SystemsBasic Data ManagementThe QGIS User InterfaceBasic spatial analysisSelections, Joins, and Querries.Basic map layout and exportsRequired: You will need a fully charged laptop to participate in the hands-on exercises. A mouse is not required but strongly recommended. Note: This workshop is open to current Stanford affiliates only. You must have a valid SUnetID to attend.
