This new initiative, in partnership with Stanford Live, showcases three of today’s most celebrated string quartets—ranging from legendary ensembles to rising stars and fresh competition winners. Each group will spend a week on campus in a wide-ranging residency focused on mentorship, collaboration, and community engagement, culminating in a world-class performance at Bing Concert Hall. A string quartet for the 21st century, the Verona Quartet champions a rich breadth of repertoire, from the time-honored canon through contemporary classics. Winner of Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award and hailed by The New York Times as an “outstanding ensemble,” the group has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Wigmore Hall. Committed to storytelling through music, the group’s name pays tribute to Shakespeare, one of the greatest storytellers of all time.
