Forms & Frequencies | Temporary Body by Jerron Herman

Cantor Arts Center presents Forms & Frequencies, a Thursday night series featuring live performance from the Bay Area and beyond. Join us on Thursday, October 8, for an immersive, participatory dance performance by New York-based dancer, choreographer, and writer Jerron Herman, who will present his multidisciplinary piece, Temporary Body. This work explores physical body movement, writing, and collaborative art-making. Temporary Body invites the audience to become a part of the performance. Attendees will be encouraged to move around and interact directly with the piece by creating unique adornments for the artist’s garment. This opportunity for participation will be followed by a procession and a 20-minute solo dance performance by Herman. This program is presented in conjunction with Carolyn Lazard: Long Take, on view from August 6–December 13, 2026 at the Cantor. Long Take is a multimedia exhibition that begins with a score for a performance and unfolds as a series of interventions that engage accessibility as an artistic material. Made in collaboration with Herman and poet and artist Joselia Rebekah Hughes, the central work, Leans, Reverses (2022), emerges from the relationship between a dance performed by Herman, its recording, and transcription.
