Come Hear the Case for California's Billionaire Wealth Tax from a Preeminent Young Economist Gabriel Zucman is Professor of economics at the Paris School of Economics and Ecole normal supérieure — PSL, Summer Research Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and founding Director of the International Tax Observatory. Zucman received his PhD in 2013 and taught at the London School of Economics before joining the Berkeley faculty in 2015, and the Paris School of Economics and Ecole normale supérieure in 2023. He received the John Bates Clark medal in 2023, awarded by the American Economic Association to that economist under the age of forty who is judged to have made the most significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge. His latest book, We Need to Tax Billionaires, was published by Basic Books in May. His latest working paper (with Jasper Boll and Emmanuel Saenz) takes a closer look at California billionaires.
