Choreographer and director Camille A. Brown is one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary dance, with five Tony award nominations, multiple Bessie awards, and honors including a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her work for her virtuosic company Camille A. Brown & Dancers, along with choreography for Broadway, opera, film and television, weaves together African American social dance and multiple African diaspora traditions in a continuing exploration of Black joy. In this new work inspired by the “I Am” episode of the HBO series Lovecraft Country, she blasts into a universe where anything is possible, as she unites dance genres of the African diaspora.
