Love the idea of a book club but don’t have time for a whole novel? Join our Short Story Social , a relaxed "book club" for short-story fans and busy readers. We meet virtually on the fourth Thursday of each month to discuss one or two contemporary short stories (no more than 40 pages total). Participate from anywhere—jump in late or leave early if needed! For our first meeting, June 25th, we are kicking things with a selection from Banu Mushtaq's collection Heart Lamp , winner of the 2025 International Booker Prize and the first short story collection to win this prestigious award. We will discuss "The Shroud," the story of a woman's guilt after she fails to honor another woman's dying wish. Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting link. 2026 Reading List June 25th- "The Shroud" in Heart Lamp by Banu Mushtaq July 23rd- "Mall of America" by Suzanne Wang in The Best American Short Stories 2024 August 27th- "A Sunny Place for Shady People" in A Sunny Place for Shady People by Mariana Enriquez September 24th- "Dominion" by Lauren Acampora in The Best American Short Stories 2025 . * Also available in New England Review , Vol 45, No. 2-avaialble through Gale Academic Onefile with your library card.
